Delivering my 'Home That Loves You Back' Project from Farmyard Paradise

From a cabin on a storybook farm, I held the third webinar of our 9-month home harmonising project yesterday. If they listened carefully, our participants could hear newborn lambs bleating outside my window and a stream flowing by.

What a way to end the winter.

The webinars are my favourite kind of parties. There are interesting people joining us from everywhere: Taiwan, Hawaii, Scotland, and even Tasmania, all moving their bodies, transforming their homes room by room in real time, and feeling pretty impressed with the “before” and “after” photos they bring into being.

Yesterday’s webinar was “Create a Garden of Food in Your Fridge and Pantry.”

Two big jars of mulberry jam from 2020 went into one family’s compost, and now their “dark cavern” only holds food they actually want to eat. Another family’s collection of homemade ferments is now prominent in the fridge door, like a stained-glass display, where it will be gobbled up as intended.

After making our “I am embracing” gestures, saying goodbye to the group and turning off the computer, I got my second party. It couldn't have been more humble, more relaxed, and fun.

I strolled over to the farmhouse to decorate a birthday cake with daffodils and celebrate lovely Matilda, who has moved in with her man. They are the farm’s newest crew members. I had a fun playlist on me from the Webinar, so we played 'Banana (Oh na na), and the baby got us up dancing the cha-cha. Yet another reason people should have children.

I’ll be on the move for most of spring, travelling to Byron Bay, Sydney, Vietnam and China. Amazingly, and perfectly for someone like me, my work can simply come with me. Maybe there will be easy parties, and instant friends. These things happen.

Next month’s “Enchant Your Workspace” webinar might be delivered while I gaze out at a rainforest. Meanwhile, the group and I will untangle cords, set papers up to self-organise (or disappear), and bring our compassionate enquiry to it all.

Because it is so much fun, so rewarding, and so needed, Katie and I are doing the whole project again, starting next year.
